FAQs

Answers to common questions about ordering and working with our hemp fabrics and trim.

Why choose hemp fabric?

Hemp fabrics are known for their natural texture, gentle structure and understated beauty, bringing warmth and character to interiors and clothing alike. To learn more about how hemp performs in interiors and clothing, read our Hemp Guide.

Can I order samples of your fabrics and trim?

Yes! And we very strongly recommend this as cut fabrics and trim are non returnable. We have worked hard to ensure that the picture is a good representation of the true texture and colour of a fabric. However different screens will show the colour slightly differently.

If you are wanting to match the colour of a previous order we would also recommend ordering a sample of the current batch as there may be some colour variation. You can add a comment at the checkout asking for the current roll.

Sample pieces of fabric approx 20cm x 15cm are available to order on the product page at £1 per piece. Samples of trim are also available.

Shipping for standard sample orders is free of charge and will be sent as standard using Royal Mail Tracked 48 service. If you need it quicker please contact us.

Larger returnable samples of approx. half a metre long, half width fabric can also be ordered. A charge of 25% of RRP is made for these and this will be refunded as long as the sample is received back in good condition within 28 days of order. Postage will be charged at the standard Folded rate. Please contact us if you require a returnable sample.

Is there a minimum order?

There is no minimum order for in stock fabrics. For pre-orders on fabrics that are not currently available, there is a minimum order of 4m. We sell fabric and trim by the metre.

Will my fabric arrive folded or on a roll?

Please select at checkout if you would like your order sent folded or on a roll.

Folded fabrics will be sent in a biodegradable bag and cardboard box or reusable courier pack. Rolled fabrics will be wrapped in plastic and sent in a box.

What are your delivery costs and how long does delivery take?

We aim to dispatch orders within two days of receipt.

Orders are shipped from the UK using Royal Mail and DPD.

Please select at checkout whether you would like your fabric sent folded or rolled.

Folded fabrics and Trim are charged at £5.95 and rolled fabrics at £12.95.

Next Day orders placed before 1pm are sent via DPD or another courier. Folded and Trim Next Day orders cost £8.95 and fabric rolls £18.

Orders over £300 are shipped free of charge.

For full details on our shipping policy view our Shipping page.

Can I return my fabric for a refund?

Once a fabric has been cut to length for your order it is not possible to return it for a refund. We would therefore strongly recommend ordering a sample of the fabric before placing a larger order.

We check the fabric carefully before sending but for larger orders and full rolls, flaws can sometimes slip through. If you believe your fabric is flawed please email us within 7 days of receipt of your order with photos of the problem and in most cases we can organise a replacement.

Please read our Returns and Refunds Policy for full details.

What do I do if a fabric I would like to order is out of stock?

The stock availability of a fabric is shown on the product page. If you would like to order a fabric which is currently out of stock please contact us and we will let you know the expected lead time for your delivery.

How do I enquire about opening a trade account?

Learn more about trade accounts, eligibility and how to apply on our Trade Account page.

Where are your fabrics made?

Our fabrics are woven in mills across Eastern Europe and China. Learn more about our partners on our About page, with specific production details listed on each product page.

Will your fabrics shrink?

Most fabrics, particularly those made from natural fibres, have a tendency to shrink when washed anywhere from 5-10% depending upon the weave and composition. If you are looking to minimise shrinkage we would recommend dry cleaning.

When making curtains, covers and other items we would advise that an allowance is made for shrinkage.

When making clothes we would recommend always pre-washing the fabric first at the desired temperature.
